Why sometimes I prefer Anime over reality?
Although I hardly watch anime lately except for some good series but I will continue writing this post
1. Anime guys are perfect
Let’s take Tamaki as an example
- Rich (Extremely)
- Good Looking (Very)
- A gentleman (He’s a host after all?)
- Smart (He gets top grade, right?)
- Good sense of fashion (All he needs is a black horse now)
- No bad habits (zOMG!)
- SINGLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Well, in reality; let’s just take the fact about a rich guy
- Hard to find
- Probably an old man
- You can barely see him walking around
- Taken
Sometimes, we can find a good looking anime-ish boy in reality
Yagami Light!
but only on the television.
2. There are things that can only happen in the anime
Mobile suit, anyone?
I bet there are many people (beside me) that wants a robot so you can fly to the space, fight baddies and then create peace among nations (Yay, at least we don’t have to go to school). But, is it possible for us to go to the outerspace other than digging out cash or have plenty of tests before they decided to send you off to have the first step on moon?
With the current technology, probably but WILL not happen to us (not anytime soon too).
I doubt it can even walk so forget about flying out of earth
I still remember the time when I was having Gundam Seed Marathon; Gundam Seed got me totally hooked up because of the awesome fighting scene and there are a lot of time where I wanted to ride a mobile suit myself but it’s impossible so my only option was to continue watching Gundam Seed.
However, if you are desperate enough to have your own mobile suit…
Collect more cardboards.
3. Happily and ever after
Anime-ish wedding
After spending 20 minutes per episodes on a 26 episodes long anime, they finally got together after
- She finds out about his ex-girlfriend!
- His parents did not approve because she came from a poor family
- He was angry when she saw her with another guy
- She was bullied by the girls because she was hanging out with the famous boy in the school
- Countless break-ups because of this and that
- etc etc
And the last 3 minutes of the anime shows them walking out from the church together with blessing from other characters so we assume, they are happily together forever and ever and ever and anime characters never die until we lost/destroyed our dvd/tape/cd.
But in reality,
It’s rising!
The term divorce exists.
Coping up with Reality
The reality is filled with conspiracy
There are a few mangas that actually talk about messing reality with fantasy (You can also try watching Welcome to N.H.K. and Genshiken) but let’s talk about how are we supposed to cope up with this world that we actually live in?
When I was around 14 years old, I was probably categorized as weirdo by my classmates together with another classmate because we talked about Anime only. A few years later, Anime got more famous and people keep on talking about them and it is an “in” stuff to watch anime (Same case as MMORPG >.>).
1) Understand the non-anime fan
If your friend knows nothing about Anime other than Doraemon, DO NOT talk about Anime with them because they will get irritated or annoyed or don’t know how to respond to what you’re saying. Instead of talking about Anime, Crap TALK! or talk about shows that you watched with your sister occasionally.
OMGZ! Seh-rah-moon is REALLL!!! MOON PRISM POWER
2) Face the reality
Firstly, hypnotize yourself by repeating “Anime is not real”
Secondly, Anime characters don’t exist in this world filled with conspiracy. They only exist on the screen and that’s it so it’s pointless to drool over a made up character (Noooo… Gaara!).
3. Prioritize your life
Sometimes after spending hours grinding Anime, I will feel regretted because I could have spent the time doing other things. So my advice is that, ask yourself if you are willing to spend 20 minutes watching Anime when you could have done your homework with that amount of time?
However… if you’ve got nothing better to do other than staring at your room’s ceiling; watch Anime.

*sigh* I want a mech. Stupid Gundam…introducing the world to something we’ll never have.
That’s just how anime is though. Television and movies in general too actually. Disney movies are a lie! But they’re fun to watch anyway (if you’re in the right mood).
And the coping with reality section was appreciated. I tend to do all those things, but I know a few people I should pass that on to.
Hehe are you a Tamaki fan then? I actually really liked Kyouya because his scheming and trying to hide his soft side (esp. for Tamaki) was entertaining :). (although I guess Tamaki would be a better match for Haruhi)

Anime girls are very cute and pretty, that reason alone is good enough for me to watch anime!
Though I do not watch anime frequently, in fact I have not really watched any anime for a long time. O_O

seriously, though… I remember cramming most of the time because I have this sickness called procrastination and I am still not cured of it until now.
The causes of escaping reality could range from being good, being bad and being ugly. It is always up to the individual on how to counter the negative effects.

@Deimos Anime girls are made just to fit the fanboy. If you noticed, not many female anime characters are fat and they are usually slim/petite just the way guy likes them XD!

Hehe… hmm from Ouran.. I loved Mori-sempai. I agree with a lot of things you said.. like how anime guys are perfect and how only in anime happens certain things!
