Impact of botters on Online Games community Part 2

A bot’s Pros & Cons on game developers.

The Good Side

Many years ago back to the time when I play Ragnarok Online again (Basically Ragnarok is like one of the earliest MMORPGs with a lot of bots issues which remained unsolved even now)

I still remember a conversation with one of my online Ragnarok friend about why GMs (Game Masters) did not ban all those bots despite the fact that the game went pay to play status (I did not pay for it; someone else paid for me even though because I was being nice to her) and this is because they want to earn money.

I know some players that run more than 5 botting programs at the same time in order to make some side income and sometimes, botting pays even better than being a salesgirl at a boutique shop (This is the reason why we see many people quit their real job and sell World of Warcraft gold on the internet).

If they run more than 5 characters, that means they need to buy 5 monthly access cards right? Although supporting 5 accounts might be costly to maintain but then the amount of money earned from selling items in-game as well as high level characters will be much higher than the cost.

Simple mathematics,

Money earned – Cost = + —> Profit
Money earned – Cost = - —> Time to move on

And most of the time, multiple-bots botters face the first equation.

We can also conclude the fact that botting actually provide job opportunities.

So far, I’ve written only half of The Bad Side and I will be posting it tomorrow ^^
